Presentation and Mission Statement

Welcome to my brand-new blog! I'm very excited about it so I'll try to gather all the interesting bits of information I stumble upon to synthesise the entries in this blog. It is a personal blog in the sense that I'll reflect my personal interests here but I'll try to write and focus the stories in a way that suits most of you. Because you, the reader, are the one this blog is going to live or die for. So please, if you like an entry or utterly despise it, please post as many insightful and constructive comments as possible because I hope this blog to we a forum where comments are even more fun than entries.

I dare you to comment ;-).

This entry, however, is a somehow boring entry to present the guidelines I plan to follow so you know what to expect from now on.

Content: Whatever I see fits. Something interesting to me and, hopefully, to you. I plan to have several tracks used as tags over the entries. The main ones are: science, technology, history (I bet you guessed these). I'm also thinking of including a "forgotten Spaniards", "people behind the curtains" and "elegant science" as other tracks under the main ones.

Structure:
  • Short entries: 3-6 paragraphs.
  • An image for the entry.
  • First paragraph is an introduction, abstract and appetiser to what is to come in the rest of the entry.
  • The second and following paragraphs are the body.
  • The last paragraph is the conclusion and personal discussion.
  • References and links to related pages. Most of these will be inlined with the rest of the text, though.
I'm very pleased to have your attention (the single most valuable thing in the Internet these days). Thank you for reading. Thank you very much for commenting. And hope seeing you soon.

P.D.: As a reward for reading this far, here you have one of the most clicked links in my bit.ly account: a short ad called "Embrace Life" (1:29). Just the right touch of emotiveness to end this post.

  1. I just want to be the first one to say "first post!" on this blog and to offer the first piece of advice: please, make full posts available through the RSS feed! KTHXBAI!

  2. BTW, regarding the feed, what do you prefer: a feed of the abstracts (first paragraph) with a link to the full article or a feed of full entries?

  3. I always prefer to have the full entry available in the RSS feed. If I want to leave a comment or something, then I visit the site. But I guarantee you that you can add at least a visit to the counter for each post ;)

  4. Congratulations! In my case, as long as you announce it on twitter i will visit the site.
Pd: Well, when are you going to public the first real post?

  5. Do not worry my friend, as long as people read and comment my blog, I'll be motivated to post weekly (at least) and I'll publish the entries in every media at hand. Tomorrow, and possibly every Friday, I'll post the first "real" entry.
BTW, I have several entries in mind but please let me know which entries and topics suits you best.

  7. To be this blog even more interactive, each entry could be reviewed for 2/3 readers/followers... :-D Based on the reviewer's comments you could perform the corresponding changes in your entry, of course, with a deadline!

  8. @javicubo My deadlines are every Friday and, today, I've not just changed the entry but the layout and comment system based on readers' suggestions. But I urge you to post your review in another comment ;-)

@Sialyn I think we all need our English classes to pay off and we could very well use a little more writing practice. Sure we write in formal English but colloquial/meme English is another league.

  9. Congratulations on getting the ball rolling!

Just to add another opinion on the feed issue: yes, I also prefer having full entries in the feed. That way I can read them offline. So, don't change them. :-)

  10. @Naproxeno Thank you!, but the real challenge is to keep the ball rolling in spite of humps and deadlines. BTW, we still play padel this evening ;-)
